Within 48 hours of the devastating 2023 Maui fires beginning, I rallied together enterprise partners across the organization (Thrivent) to lead a disaster response campaign. With an initial goal of $10,000, we were quickly astonished at the outpouring of generosity and increased our goal within 24 hours, as well as gained approval for additional matching funds.

Every marketing and communication tactic was utilized to quickly spread the word. I designed and distributed emails to our clients and church partners, targeted social media ads, web posts, and internal staff announcements.

In the end, we raised $520,000 in donations that went directly to six nonprofits with boots on the ground in Hawaii, serving those in need. Thrivent matched the full amount $1 for every $2, totaling $780,000.

Eligible members utilized 66 Thrivent Action Teams ($250 volunteer activity kits) to support the cause - leading everything from fundraisers to prayer groups to designing and distributing a sticker that "not only symbolizes our solidarity but also acts as a beacon of hope for the people of Lahaina".
